In the fall of 2008, the Central Florida Council invited BSA youth members of all ages to design a council strip patch in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.  Entries were judged on their creativity, connection to the anniversary themes, and general effect in a patch format.

The Central Florida Council will introduce 6 new Council Strip Patches to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.  One patch is the winner of the Scout patch design contest and the remaining five will focus on the five themes of the 100th anniversary: Outdoors, Achievement, Character, Leadership, and Community Service.

The winner of the 100th Anniversary Council Strip Contest is Joseph Norton, a 12-year old Scout from Troop 6 in Windermere, Florida.  Joseph's design was chosen for its simplicity, focus on Scouting's tradition, and celebration of 100 years.  His winning design is offered as the first patch in Central Florida Council's 100th Anniversary Council Strip Patch series, shown below with Joseph's original drawing.

The Central Florida Council is offering several commemorative items for Scouts, leaders, and alumni to collect.  The first items available are based on a design from Noah Vacek, an 8-year old Cub Scout from Pack 864 in Kissimmee, Florida.  His design was chosen for its emphasis on Scouting in Central Florida during the 100th Anniversary and is introduced first as a 3" commemorative patch with a hanging loop.  Noah's original design and the available patch are shown below.
